Tickling the Marriage Funny Bone

Things have been rather serious lately here on the Hot, Holy & Humorous blog. Sometimes, I just need my funny bone tickled. Don’t you?

Whatever hasĀ been going on in your life, whatever challenges you have, whatever stresses surround you, how about grabbing your spouse and watching a few funny videos? Here are some clean, Christian comics on marriage and intimacy. (Note: The acts are clean, but sex is mentioned. So if you’re at work or have small children, you might want to grab the headphones.)

Bob Smiley, Wedding Vows

Tim Hawkins, The Wife Song

Thor Ramsey, It’s in the Bible!

And one of my favorite comedians ever, Sinbad, Get Your House Back

I hope you enjoyed a laugh or two. Thankfully, the field of Christian comedy is growing. And why wouldn’t it? God wants to see His children smile.

Psalm 126:2-3:

Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
ā€œThe Lord has done great things for them.ā€
The Lord has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy.

In fact, I recommendĀ a clean comedy show as a fabulous date night for a married couple! Laughing together can draw you closer.

Now that I’ve shared, I invite readers to mention their favorite Christian comics in the comments. Whose comedy routines tickle your funny bone and give you that good-medicine cheerful heart (Proverbs 17:22)?

  1. I LOVE Sinbad! He’s definitely one of my favorites, along with Bill Cosby (Himself from 1983 is by far the funniest)

My favorite Christian comedian is probably Marc Lowry, although I haven’t heard much from him lately.

My husband and I have recently started really enjoying Jim Gaffigan. Although not Christian, he’s clean and funny. He just released a second special called “Mr. Universe”, however his “hot pocket skit” from “Beyond the Pale” has us rolling every time šŸ™‚

    1. Bill Cosby is a classic. Awesome comedy!

I have heard of Marc Lowry. I need to look Jim Gaffigan up! Thanks.

  2. I love Tim Hawkins! Especially “Cletus take the Reel” a spoof on “Jesus take the wheel” it’s a great video šŸ™‚

  3. All of these comics were wonderful. Sinbad is hilarious, and what he said has been so true in my household. We have been trying to be quiet. We need to take our house back, lol.
