Great tips J! Thanks. For some reason I’m finding it just as hard or harder with my “second set” of kids (we have an 18, 16, 11 and 8 year olds). I need these reminders. My older kids have a very healthy sense of sexuality I think. I’ve always told th they could ask me ANYthing but not to EVER google. And they’ve asked me some doozies when they were younger!! ??? answering them as matter of factly as possible with the warning “are you sure you want to know that? I can’t take it back.” Helped a lot (for real. It was a doozie!!!!!!)

In reply to Johanna Galyen. I think all of that will pay off. I'm currently rather impressed with how my son is treating his girlfriend, and yes, I think he got a lot of that teaching here at home, supported in great part by church family and his Christian friend circle.

I feel that #3 is so important in our family. Yes, we protect our children. We homeschool, attend a good church, limit viewing on tv etc… So questions are going to come up. Their friends are in similar environments and they don’t have long periods of time to talk about these issues. The more I allow questions to come up, and answer them honestly, the easier it is to talk about sex.

We tell our kids, that ANY time they have a question we will answer it honestly. Yes, we’ve had a few interesting conversations and they’re starting to pick on our flirting in our home. We are very open about hugging and kissing in public and I agree that it shows them that expressions of love are important. I hope that our sons (in the future) treat their wife as well as their father treats me. ~ Johanna
