Too often, I hear that sex in marriage is a disappointment. I’m saddened that you’ve experienced such deep heartache. I encourage you to try one more time simply to tell your wife that you haven’t stopped wanting physical intimacy with her and you wish she’d feel safe enough to tell you why it’s such a difficult topic for her. Invite her to tell you, offering that you’ll just listen (and then you really have to do just that!), and then let it go. At least, let of pushing to talk. Continue to pray that she will open up and show her love, because we are commanded to do our part (excepting in scenarios with abuse).

If I approached the subject, it was met with anger, rejection and a long silent treatment. Being sexless for over a decade, I can only fantasize about sex 40 years ago when we were trying to get pregnant! Sex in this Christian marriage has been a huge disappointment!

What about printing out the chapter, handing it to him, and asking what he thinks? Maybe he won’t do it, but maybe it will help start a conversation. Worth a shot?
