I have a pastor friend/ mentor who maintains that early on sex drives the relationship and later the relationship drives the sex.

The first 25 years of marriage, we would average 3 times a month. For the last 15 years, we now average once every 3 weeks. Sometimes we go for 6-8 weeks without sex. Perimenopause/menopause sure did a number on my wonderful wife. Most of my married buddies have said the same thing. I never knew that women (Christian, married) can have a strong and higher sex drive than males until I came to your website several years ago. It open my eyes to the possibility that my wife’s sex drive could change….

My husband has also mentioned that he wished his younger man sex drive could show up with his older wife’s sex drive. 🙂 Alas! this is the marital challenge: to be mismatched in something and figure out how to love each other through it.

My experience is that menopause can nuke a subpar sex life into utter oblivion.
