Great article. First and foremost, I hope you do two things before you worry about ministry. First is to take care of your health, hopefully while finding encouragement from those around you. It is obvious that your husband is giving support, but hopefully you have close friends that will provide you encouragement and prayer. Second, spend time with your husband (no, I’m not talking about in the bedroom) and put him before ministry. I have seen too many people in ministry fail to do this and it really hurt both their marriages and their ministry. Now, I am not at all saying this is the case, so please do not misunderstand me. I would be surprised if it were the case for you, but I think it is worth writing so others can think about it as well.

Also, while not especially a “powerful man” like Bill Gates, my wife and I recently celebrated our 30th anniversary. We went to a B&B where the owners are celebrating their 31st anniversary in a couple months. Another couple we met there have been married over 40 years. I don’t know if types like Gates are more common or less common, but long and faithful marriages do exist.

Finally, for an unedited or lightly edited article, it was very well written.

J - My prayers are with you as you heal from your surgery & are looking at a forth coming one as well. Yes- I also was deeply disappointed as well in the Gates’ divorce & wondering how such an impressive individual with an intelligence that is off the charts could be so ‘caveman like’ to believe that kind of behavior would not have horrible results. Thank you as always for your posts. Your Christian character & love always shines forth even when your dander gets up. Your sense of humor is also always a precious commodity.
