Every year, I post some list of holiday gifts for your spouse—from sexy stocking stuffers to romantic experiences. Have I expended all of my ideas? Not yet, but it has gotten harder to come up with fresh ones! Which is why I’m adding a few more this time, but also providing a collection of prior posts that you can peruse to find fun ideas for your spouse and your marriage.

A Few New Gift Ideas

Open When Letters / Envelopes

Present your beloved with envelopes that say “Open When ____” on each and have a customized messages inside. I looked at several options, downloaded a couple, and ended up really liking this printable set from PrintyIllustrations that includes labels, cards, and envelopes if you need them, as well as inspiration for what to write in your messages. What a great way to encourage your spouse and express your love!

Weighted Blanket

These blankets have become rather popular in recent years. My son got one, and at first I thought it was just some whatever trend. But then I got underneath the weighted blanket, and ooooh, aaaah … I get it. A weighted blanket may be just what your spouse or your bed needs for you to have a good night’s sleep and some even better snuggling.

But what if your spouse keeps stealing your covers? Well, Uncommon Goods has you covered with a couple’s split blanket & sheet set. Who knew!

Sexy Christmas Cookies

It’s pretty amazing what you can find on Etsy, an online marketplace for vintage and handmade items. For instance, a cookie cutter set you can use to make both cookies and a clear invitation to have sex. In case you need a good sugar cookie recipe, try this one or this one.

Personalized Scented Candle

Have you heard of the idea of you or your spouse lighting a candle when you’re open to having sex? Well, you can buy candles that say that basic thing (“when this candle’s lit, then…”), but the verbiage is often crass. How about putting your own message on the candle? You could say something like: “When this candle is light, let’s get intimate” or “Time to Play” or “I Burn for You.” Come up with the right invitation for your marriage bed, along with some good aromas to get you both in the mood.

Today is “Giving Tuesday,” a day designated to donate service and money to charitable causes. While I’m not a charity for tax purposes, I am incredibly thankful for the donations my ministry receives. Honestly, this last year I announced to my husband with ridiculous joy that my business made above the poverty level in 2020! And then, Uncle Sam took some of it. ~shrug~

My costs involve web hosting, stock photos, virtual assistant fees (and I’d use her more if I could afford to), a bit of marketing, office and shipping supplies, and resources (like books and courses) that keep me updated in my field. • Start with a decorative box or basket. (Locally, try a Tuesday Morning or Hobby Lobby.)
• Add a restaurant gift card; a meal kit; or a gift card for UberEats, DoorDash, or Grubhub.

I haven’t done nearly as many posts with ideas for wives, but here’s a previous one for Christmas: What Does Your Wife Want for Christmas? And from Valentine’s posts: here and here. Here are my five more ideas:

1. Making Love Potions.

How about some home recipes for foods and oils that could enhance your sexual intimacy? Making Love Potions has wonderful illustrations, inspiring quotations (including a couple from the Bible, but other sources as well), and instructions for making aromatic drinks for stimulating mood, to sensual massage oils, to natural personal lubricants. If your wife enjoys cooking or being crafty, this could be a great choice for her to use her interests and skills in ways that benefit your marriage bed.

P.S. You men can also make these recipes, of course.

2. Aphrodisiac oils and perfumes.

Good Clean Love — and other companies, I’m sure — have a line of aphrodisiac products that includes essential oils, perfumes, and personal lubricant. Our sense of smell is definitely connected to the emotion center in our brain, and it’s this insight that has caused aromatherapy to really take hold in recent years. Some wives detect a difference in how sensual they feel with the use of aromatic products like these. Maybe your wife would enjoy them as well.

3. Comfortable Sleepwear.

I’ve advocated plenty for wearing lingerie and covered the why and how of getting lingerie in my book, Hot, Holy, and Humorous: Sex in Marriage by God’s Design (which is also a great gift). But when asked in my closed Facebook group what intimacy-related gift was my favorite, I answered that my husband once bought me sleepwear that was super-comfortable, but something that he enjoyed viewing me in. A few hubbies followed up with questions about what that means.

Well, some lingerie is so uncomfortable and/or revealing that many wives don’t want to wear it. Indeed, when I look through what counts as “sexy lingerie,” some items look more like contraptions than clothing. So why not get your wife something that feels really feels good and covers her, while still being suggestive or nice to look at. Here are some ideas:

• Camisole and shorts set
• Cotton or satin chemise
• Long, single-straps nightgown (wives: wear without panties)
• Pajama set in thin or sheer cotton
• Satin nightshirt

Your best bet for finding such items is a local department store.

4. Behind Closed Doors.

When I’m not writing about Christian sex and marriage, I’m often writing fiction. While I write some other mainstream stories (under a different name), my book, Behind Closed Doors, was a labor of love in which I joined my passion for godly sex with my joy of writing fiction. The genre is basically Christian romance, but specifically covers issues of sexual intimacy in marriage. Each of the five stories deals with a different challenge in gaining or maintaining hot and holy intimacy, but none of the “lessons” are hit-you-over-the-head. They’re just stories, which I think your wife would enjoy.

5. Bedroom budget.

I admit this one isn’t necessarily cheap. However, ambiance matters to many women, yet we tend to spend money on other stuff for the house more readily than our bedrooms. What if you just handed her an envelope with money or an IOU inside with the caveat that it must be spent on sprucing up the bedroom so that it’s a place you both want to be?

Let her redecorate with better sheets, nice pillows, soft lighting, and even word art, like I have in my bedroom:

Here is this season’s 10 Christmas Gifts for Your Marriage Bed. Maybe you can find something to wrap up for you and your hubby!

ADD AMBIANCE TO YOUR BEDROOM

1. Canopy. How about introducing a bed canopy? Those always look so romantic and sexy in historical bedrooms, like you two are hiding away in your own private retreat. Check out this classic canopy from Bed, Bath & Beyond:

2. Light bulbs. Colored light bulbs are one of the best ways to add low lighting to your bedroom, the kind that gets you two in the mood. This is also a great way to lower the spotlight enough that you feel more comfortable baring it all for hubby. You can find them at your local hardware store or shop online. I think this one is particular pretty:

3. Wall art. I bought a wall decal for our bedroom that we plan to put up in our bedroom (after we repaint over the holidays). I love the idea of putting positive messages and scripture on our walls, and I found a wonderful Song of Song reference through Etsy. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a message like this in your bedroom? 4. Love Notes. How about trading love notes to spice up your romance? How about leaving one of those notes for your beloved in the shower? Yes, you can. Aqua Love Notes comes with waterproof pad and two colored pencils you can mount and use in your shower.

5. Signal. Looking for a unique way to give your lover the go-ahead for tonight? Why not use the bat signal? I suspect most hubbies would love to get this signal to step up their superhero power and rock their wife’s world tonight. Cape optional.

6. Game. The Dating Divas specialize in activities and games for your marriage. For those Do It Yourself-ers, check out this fun Spin the Bottle game. This looks like something even I — craft-challenged person that I am — could make!

DRESS FOR INTIMACY

7. Socks. Did you know that people tend to climax more easily with their socks on? No, seriously. It was a surprise finding in sexual research. So help your man keep his feet warm and his marriage bed hot with some personalized socks. Etsy has about gazillion options for you to choose a great pair of socks he’d enjoy and add your own romantic or sexy message. Maybe something like Let’s knock socks?

8. Fun undies. Given the upcoming release of the newest installment of Star Wars, I thought it would be super-easy to find boxer briefs that actually said “The Force Awakens.” I mean, come on — that’s kinda funny, right? But I had no luck.

You could opt for Star Wars undies or maybe something more direct, like these fun undies he can swagger into the bedroom wearing. From Webundies.com.

9. Lingerie. I have a friend who used to work at Frederick’s of Hollywood. She explained that the same scenario was played out before and after holidays multiple times: Hubby comes in looking for lingerie for his wife, has no idea what size she is, selects something he thinks is sexy, and after the holiday wife shows up to return said lingerie with words like, “I don’t know what he was thinking.” I can shed light on that: Your husband was thinking he wanted see his wife looking sexually interested, and lingerie signals that.

So oddly enough, one of the best things many wives can get their husband is sexy lingerie for themselves. Find something that stretches your comfort zone a little, but not too much. Those of you who are worried, I promise you can find items that look suggestive without looking slutty. For example, here’s a lovely nightgown from Macy’s, in plus size. (I didn’t want to post anything more suggestive here, but you can find plenty of options.)

GIVE THE BEST GIFT

10. You. Probably the best thing you could wrap up for your hubby is yourself. Make a big, beautiful bow and place it on your body. Wear it over lingerie or just by itself. And then let hubby unwrap his favorite present. Because, after all, he has been a good boy this year, hasn’t he? Instructions can be found here.

Of course, if you’re one of those who finished your holiday shopping in October, kudos to you! And the rest of us do not want to hear about it.

But if you’re like me, one of the hardest people to shop for is your spouse. I’m married to one of those men who just buys what he wants instead of saving it up for a wish list. He should be on a first-name basis with the guy who delivers his Amazon packages. So when it comes to holiday season, I’m usually doing mental gymnastics worthy of an Olympic medal to come up with what to buy, wrap, and tuck under the Christmas tree for my man.

Still, every year I write posts with Christmas gift ideas, and this year is no exception. Next Saturday, I’ll share a list with ideas of what to buy hubby, but for the time being I wanted to remind y’all of a few previous posts that might help.
