May I suggest you go read Song of Songs and pay attention to all the places where the wife freely describes her appreciation for and longing for affection and sexual intimacy? That is God’s intention for sex in marriage: mutually satisfying intimacy.

Like I’m asking too much. I initiate but only if I already know my husband wants to. I never ask for an orgasm. I know he would happily oblige and he will often give me one just because. I found this blog shortly before I married 19 months ago. I was determined to do my best to give us a good start sexually, and was reading just about anything that had to do with married sex, whether Christian or not. Your site helped me get a biblical perspective on the logistical info I was accumulating. Just gave some marriage encouragement to a friend getting married tomorrow. She let me know that her family had already given “TMI” when mentioning UTI’s. I didn’t feel the need to be the one to share detailed marriage info with her, though I wished for her sake that she was getting plenty from someone.
You have mentioned the need to give info to the “younger women” – there’s also a need for younger women to be willing to see the need for info on the *only* aspect that is God-declared to be a part of marriage and only marriage. “You will figure it out together” is true; a little more info is so helpful, though!
A preacher once said something that stuck with me – “Any other need than the sexual/physical aspect can be rightfully and lawfully met outside of marriage – make this area a priority!”
Maybe not quite what you had in mind for a comment, but my thoughts on the broader subject.
